Google and CTC Global Team Up to Expand U.S. Grid with Advanced Conductors

23 Jun 2025
Google and CTC Global have announced a new initiative aimed at rapidly expanding transmission capacity across the U.S. electric grid using CTC Global's U.S.-manufactured ACCC® Conductors. The partnership intends to double grid capacity in significantly less time than traditional infrastructure builds.

Through a nationwide Request for Information (RFI), the two companies will identify high-impact transmission lines that can be upgraded quickly to support growing electricity demands, especially in areas where Google operates or plans to expand data center facilities. Applications are due by July 14, 2025, with a full RFP to follow.

This initiative will offer technical support, cost-sharing opportunities, and workforce training for utilities and developers selected to participate. CTC Global's advanced conductors are already used in more than 30 U.S. states and over 65 countries worldwide.

Amanda Peterson Corio, Google's Global Head of Data Center Energy, emphasized the importance of the effort to support reliable, affordable power delivery: "Expanded grid capacity will enable responsible data center growth and increase affordability for consumers."

J.D. Sitton, CEO of CTC Global, added, "This groundbreaking partnership with Google marks a turning point to lower electricity costs and advance U.S. energy leadership."

The collaboration also highlights a commitment to domestic manufacturing, with CTC Global sourcing key components like carbon fiber from Alabama and fiberglass from Texas.
