Denmark - A significant milestone with the installation of its first turbine

The Hollandse Kust Noord super-hybrid offshore wind farm has reached a significant milestone with the installation of its first turbine. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Van Oord utilized the offshore installation vessel Scylla to transport and install the 69 Siemens Gamesa 11.0-200 DD wind turbines, which would generate a minimum of 3.3 TWh of electricity per year. This is equivalent to meeting 2.8% of the Netherlands' electricity demand. The wind farm, located approximately 18.5 kilometers (11.5 miles) off the coast of North Holland, would also feature a 0.5 MW offshore floating solar plant, battery storage facilities, and green hydrogen production, making it a super-hybrid project. CrossWind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, was selected by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy to build the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, with the expectation of it becoming fully operational by the end of 2023 after generating its first power in June.
