ABB’s Embedded Vacuum Interrupter Technology Revolutionizes Turkey’s Power Grid

ABB is leading the way in transforming Turkey's power grid by introducing embedded vacuum interrupter technology, replacing outdated SF6 insulated breakers.

TEIAS, the official electricity transmission body in Turkey, is partnering with ABB and Astor A.S. Transformator to upgrade the power network with high-value medium voltage (MV) vacuum components. This transition not only aligns Turkey with European emission reduction goals but also futureproofs the power grid.

Through a bespoke solution provided by Astor A.S. Transformator, ABB's P6 VG6-S-K Embedded Pole parts are being deployed in Turkey's predominantly 36kV network. These parts offer superior dielectric behavior, protection against environmental influences, and a compact and lightweight design that facilitates transportation and installation. The collaboration between ABB and Astor A.S. Transformator has not only modernized Turkey's power grid but also established a strong partnership, enabling further circuit breaker developments.
