BEST–BETAŞ to Build One of the Largest Substations in the Middle East
The BEST–BETAŞ consortium has signed a contract with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) to deliver a major high-voltage substation project in Qatar, supporting the integration of large-scale renewable generation into the national transmission network.
The project involves the construction of a substation with an installed capacity of approximately 3000 MVA, positioning it among the largest infrastructure developments of its kind in the Middle East.
The facility will play a central role in connecting the planned 2 GW Dukhan Solar Power Project to Qatar’s electricity grid, enabling the transfer of generated renewable energy into the transmission system and strengthening overall network capacity.
The scope of work includes development of high-voltage substation infrastructure and associated grid integration systems required to support large-scale solar generation.
BEST–BETAŞ said the project reflects its expertise in delivering complex turnkey energy infrastructure, particularly in high-voltage substations and transmission systems, and builds on its international project portfolio in the power sector.
