EU adds three cross-border renewable energy projects
The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has added WIND, DEPLOY and ZEGA-LINNK to the EU’s cross-border renewable energy (CB RES) list, making them eligible to seek Connecting Europe Facility Energy support.
WIND, promoted by DTEK Renewables, centers on the planned 650 MW Poltavska wind farm in Ukraine, expected to generate 2 TWh annually, with future cross-border electricity trade with Romania. Construction is planned from late 2026, with commissioning targeted for January 2029.
ENERTRAG’s DEPLOY combines 180 MW of wind and solar in the Polish-German border region, supplying electricity alongside industrial and district heating and supporting grid flexibility. Commissioning is planned for 2030.
ZEGA-LINNK will expand a heating network between Austria and Germany with a 5 MW heat pump and planned 12–15 MW geothermal borehole, targeting commissioning by the end of 2030.
CB RES status establishes eligibility for EU financial support but does not itself award funding.
