ForeFront Power Brings Fresno Solar Project Online
ForeFront Power has completed its first Erthos Earth Mount Solar system at the City of Fresno’s Northeast Surface Water Treatment Plant in California.
The system uses Erthos technology to mount solar modules directly on the ground, rather than on conventional steel structures. The approach is designed to reduce structural, civil and installation costs.
ForeFront Power said the technology helped make the project economically viable amid higher labor and material costs. The company owns the system and sells electricity to the city under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at a fixed rate below the utility price.
“Erthos helped us avoid significant, expensive civil upgrades,” said Erinne Davis, senior project manager at ForeFront Power.
The installation forms part of a broader solar and battery storage portfolio developed for Fresno’s Department of Public Utilities. Across three sites, the projects have a combined capacity of 27 MW-DC and are expected to save ratepayers more than $122 million through 2045.
