OCI Energy and Arava Power Start Texas Solar Project
OCI Energy and Arava Power have broken ground on the 347 MWdc SunRoper Solar project in Wharton County, Texas, marking the start of construction on a major new renewable energy facility near Houston.
The project is expected to begin operations in December 2027 and will supply electricity to a Fortune 100 company under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Located near one of the largest electricity demand centers in the U.S., SunRoper will add significant new generation capacity to the region and contribute to the ERCOT market.
“SunRoper demonstrates how strategic partnerships can help meet Texas' growing demand for electricity through investments in critical energy infrastructure,” said Sabah Bayatli, President of OCI Energy.
The project is jointly developed by OCI Energy and Arava Power, financed by ING, with WHC serving as EPC contractor.
The project highlights continued investment in Texas’ power infrastructure as electricity demand continues to grow.
