Tenevo hybrid park adds 773 MWh battery storage
Renalfa IPP and Eurowind Energy have inaugurated the Tenevo Hybrid Park in southeastern Bulgaria, combining 242 MWp of solar capacity with two battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 311 MW / 773 MWh. The project is expected to generate about 332 GWh annually, with more than 250 MW of wind capacity planned.
Solarpro Holding served as EPC contractor and project manager. The project combines solar generation with BESS to provide greater flexibility in how renewable power is stored and delivered to the grid.
Ivo Prokopiev, founder and CEO of Renalfa Solarpro Group, described Tenevo as “the first showcase in Europe of dispatchable renewable asset of that scale.”
The photovoltaic plant and first battery phase have operated since 2025. Financing includes $56.3 million (€50 million) from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and $59.7 million (€53 million) from Raiffeisen Bank International, with $67.6 million (€60 million) planned for the second battery storage phase.
Total investment is expected to exceed $563.1 million (€500 million).
