Ventura County Completes 7.7 MW Solar and Battery Storage Project
The County of Ventura has completed a 7.7 MW solar and battery storage project at its Government Center in California.
The project combines a 5.8 MW solar parking canopy with 1.9 MW of battery energy storage, generating nearly 9 million kWh of electricity annually. The system is expected to offset 53% of the Government Center’s energy use and save the county more than $21 million over 20 years.
The project was delivered through a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), with ForeFront Power owning and maintaining the system.
“This project is a great example of making a smart, long-term investment that lowers our energy costs, gives us more predictable expenses, and provides lasting value to our residents,” said Thomas Hunt, Director of the County of Ventura’s General Services Agency.
The system is also expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 5,000 tons annually.
