Constellation (Nasdaq: CEG), the nation's largest producer of clean, emissions-free energy, has secured over $1 billion in federal contracts from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The agreements include a record-setting $840 million contract to supply more than 1 million megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually, primarily sourced from nuclear energy, to over 13 federal agencies.

This landmark 10-year contract is the largest clean energy procurement in GSA's history and highlights the growing role of nuclear energy in achieving sustainability goals. Constellation's nuclear fleet, bolstered by planned output increases known as "uprates," will supply the carbon-free energy.

"This agreement reflects a transformative shift in how nuclear energy is valued as part of clean energy strategies," said Joe Dominguez, Constellation President and CEO. "With this partnership, the U.S. government joins leading corporations like Microsoft in supporting investment in reliable nuclear energy."

The power will be delivered to federal agencies including the Architect of the Capitol, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Park Service, and others across Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Additionally, Constellation will implement energy efficiency measures under a $172 million Energy Savings Performance Contract for five GSA-owned facilities in the National Capital Region. Projects include upgrading HVAC systems, installing LED lighting, and converting facilities from steam to electric heating.

"This historic procurement accelerates progress toward a carbon-free energy future while safeguarding taxpayer dollars," said Robin Carnahan, GSA Administrator.

Construction for energy conservation projects will begin in January 2025 and last approximately 42 months.
