Hanwha Group Expands Canadian Energy Portfolio with Offshore Wind Bid
ENERGY France and Hanwha Ocean, both subsidiaries of Hanwha Group, have entered the pre-qualification process for a call for bids to develop offshore wind projects in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The pre-qualification allows the companies to be considered for seabed licences to construct and operate offshore wind farms. Q ENERGY France has more than 25 years of experience in renewable energy projects in Europe, while Hanwha Ocean has expertise in naval and commercial shipbuilding and engineering.
The companies’ participation in the process is part of Hanwha Group’s broader activities in Canada, which also include being shortlisted for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP).
Junu Lee, CEO of Q ENERGY, commented that the company aims to contribute to energy transition efforts in Canada and support regional development. Hanwha Ocean plans to apply its engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and operation (EPCIO) capabilities to the offshore wind projects.
No final selection has been made, and the pre-qualification process is a preliminary step. The outcome will determine which companies are invited to submit full proposals for offshore wind development in Nova Scotia.
