Harry Sideris to Lead Duke Energy as CEO from April 2025

14 Jan 2025
Duke Energy has announced the appointment of Harry Sideris as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2025. Sideris will also join the board of directors, succeeding Lynn Good, who is retiring after 11 years as CEO and more than 20 years with the company.

Sideris, a 29-year veteran of Duke Energy, has served as the company's president since April 2024. His leadership portfolio includes overseeing electric and gas utilities, operations, regulatory and legislative affairs, customer services, and grid strategy. He began his career with Progress Energy, which merged with Duke Energy in 2012.

"After a multiyear and comprehensive CEO-succession process, we are delighted that Harry will become our next president and CEO," said Ted Craver, lead independent director. Craver will also assume the role of independent chair of Duke Energy's Board of Directors on April 1.

Sideris has highlighted Duke Energy's ambitious growth plans, which include doubling its 50 GW of generating capacity, expanding renewables, and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The utility plans to exit coal entirely by 2035 while investing $73 billion over the next five years, with half dedicated to grid enhancements.

"I am honored and excited to lead Duke Energy at this dynamic time for our company and industry," said Sideris.
