Hitachi Energy to Invest $77 Million in Landskrona Cooling Systems Factory
Hitachi Energy is investing approximately $77 million USD in a major expansion of its cooling systems factory in Landskrona, Sweden, aiming to meet rising global demand for advanced thermal management solutions used in power transmission and e-mobility applications.
The investment will double production capacity, consolidate operations from three existing facilities into a single location, and create new jobs while providing enhanced training programs for the local workforce. To support the expansion, the company is acquiring the industrial property Björnen 12, which will serve as the central hub for production and development.
For over four decades, Hitachi Energy’s Landskrona factory has produced cooling systems that safely manage heat in HVDC converters, vehicle charging infrastructure, and other electrical grid components. These systems help maintain optimal operating temperatures, extend equipment lifespan, prevent damage, and reduce energy inefficiencies.
According to Arthouros Iordanidis, Head of Global Product Group Circuit Breakers and Grid Components at Hitachi Energy, “The expansion of our Landskrona facility marks a significant milestone in our strategic vision to drive innovation and reinforce our technology leadership. This technology is instrumental in shaping a more resilient energy future.”
The expansion reflects growing demand driven by electrification, renewable energy deployment, and advanced transmission solutions, reinforcing Hitachi Energy’s position as a global leader in cooling system technology.
