Hounen Solar to Launch Second U.S. Panel Assembly Plant in South Carolina
Hounen Solar, a South Carolina-based solar panel assembler, announced plans to open a second manufacturing facility in Summerville, joining its existing 1-GW plant in Orangeburg. The new site, slated to begin operations by the end of 2026, will have a 3-GW capacity.
The Summerville location was previously occupied by a home furnishings manufacturer, allowing Hounen Solar to focus on installing panel assembly equipment without building a new facility from scratch. According to the company, the plant will incorporate advanced automation and intelligent production systems to manufacture high-efficiency silicon solar panels that meet U.S. market standards.
Hounen Solar began producing silicon solar panels at its Orangeburg facility in 2024. The company emphasizes that the investment supports domestic manufacturing, technological innovation, and supply chain resilience while contributing to the U.S. clean energy transition.
This expansion aligns with a broader trend of increasing solar manufacturing investments in the United States, including recent projects by other panel manufacturers in South Carolina and beyond.
