Schiedam, The Netherlands - HSM Offshore Energy has been awarded the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the offshore high voltage substation and its jacket foundation for the Thor wind farm.

The wind farm, located approximately 22 kilometers from Thorsminde on the west coast of Jutland, will consist of 72 wind turbine generators. HSM Offshore Energy will work alongside key subcontractors Iv-Offshore & Energy and GE Renewable Energy for engineering and the MV/HV package. The less than 3000mt Topside and 2500mt Jacket structures will be designed, constructed, installed, and commissioned offshore by the team.

HSM Offshore Energy's highly efficient design for RWE's Thor substation and jacket is based on their technical expertise and experience. By reducing the use of structural steel and the energy needed during manufacturing, the team aims to source and fabricate steel in Europe. Denmark's largest offshore wind farm to date, Thor, will be capable of generating enough green electricity to power more than one million Danish households.
