Gilliam County, OR - Avangrid, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, has announced the commercial operations of Pachwáywit Fields, a 205 MW(dc) solar farm, located in Gilliam County, Oregon.

The solar farm is now Oregon's largest solar facility and will power the Green Future Impact customers of Portland General Electric (PGE). The project, previously known as Montague Solar, is situated on ceded lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs, and its name, pronounced Patch-Why-Wit, means "sun" in the Sahaptin language of the Native American tribe.

The utility-scale project is expected to provide clean energy to 17 of PGE's largest customers, including Daimler Trucks North America, Comcast, Digital Realty, and Intel, in addition to three universities and ten municipalities in Oregon. It spans over 1,223 acres, and the solar panels, inverters, power transformers, and trackers used are capable of providing enough clean energy to approximately 40,000 local homes. During construction, the project created about 300 jobs and brought in $1.37 million to the local community through property lease payments and local taxes. Sterling & Wilson served as the project's engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, and Sukut Construction LLC performed civil, piles, and racking installation services.
