LS Power Completes Acquisition of bp’s US Onshore Wind Assets
LS Power, a leading North American energy infrastructure company, has completed the acquisition of bp’s US onshore wind business, BP Wind Energy North America Inc. The deal, first announced in July 2025, adds approximately 1,300 MW of operating onshore wind capacity across 10 projects to LS Power’s renewable portfolio.
The acquired projects, located in Indiana, Kansas, South Dakota, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Idaho, will be integrated into Clearlight Energy, LS Power’s renewable generation platform. With this addition, Clearlight Energy now manages around 4,300 MW of wind, solar, and battery storage assets, strengthening its position as a leading independent renewable operator in North America.
Paul Segal, Chief Executive Officer of LS Power, said the acquisition reflects the company’s “more of everything” strategy to meet rising electricity demand. He noted that operating assets capable of delivering clean, reliable power at scale is increasingly critical as development timelines for new projects extend.
The acquisition expands LS Power’s total US generation capacity to more than 22,300 MW, alongside over 780 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. The transaction was completed on December 9, 2025, following customary regulatory approvals, with Greenberg Traurig, LLP serving as legal advisor and Barclays and Santander as financial advisors.
This move reinforces LS Power’s commitment to scaling renewable energy and energy storage solutions across North America, supporting a diversified and resilient clean energy portfolio.
