Matrix Renewables Expands U.S. Portfolio With New Texas Solar Development
Matrix Renewables and SOLV Energy have started construction on the Tormes Solar Project, a 457 MWdc utility-scale solar facility in Navarro County, Texas.
Located near Barry and west of Corsicana, the project represents more than $750 million in renewable energy investment and is expected to support approximately 450 local and regional jobs during construction. Once operational, the facility will supply power to the Texas grid while generating long-term tax revenue and landowner income in the area.
SOLV Energy will serve as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project. The development expands the ongoing collaboration between the two companies following the completion of the Stillhouse Solar project in Bell County, Texas.
In the announcement, Cindy Tindell, Managing Director and Head of U.S. for Matrix Renewables, said: “Texas continues to lead the nation in renewable energy, and projects like Tormes demonstrate how clean power can strengthen local economies, support landowners, and deliver reliable energy to meet growing demand.”
George Hershman, CEO of SOLV Energy, added: “Building on the success of Stillhouse Solar, this project reflects our shared commitment to delivering high-quality projects and making a positive impact in the communities where we work.”
According to Matrix Renewables, the company currently owns more than 8.7 GW of projects in operation and development across major U.S. energy markets, while its global portfolio exceeds 15.5 GW spanning solar, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects.
