Morten Wierod to Succeed Björn Rosengren as ABB CEO

The ABB Board of Directors has named Morten Wierod as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2024. Wierod will succeed Björn Rosengren, who will step down on July 31, 2024, and retire by the end of the year.

 

Wierod, a 52-year-old Norwegian, has been with ABB since 1998 and currently serves as President of the Electrification Business Area. He holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. During his tenure at ABB, he has also led the Motion Business Area and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2019.

ABB Chairman Peter Voser expressed confidence in Wierod, citing his deep understanding of the company's decentralized operating model and his strong track record. Voser also acknowledged Björn Rosengren's contributions, particularly in aligning ABB's business portfolio and enhancing financial and sustainability performance.

Wierod stated his commitment to continuing ABB's focus on its key priorities and building on the established financial and sustainability standards. Rosengren, reflecting on his tenure, expressed confidence in Wierod's leadership and the company's future.
