MYTILINEOS Energy & Siemens Collaborate on 560 MW Power Unit in Poland

5 Apr 2024

In a recent press release, MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals, along with Siemens Energy, announced their collaboration on the construction of a 560 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power unit at the Adamów Power Plant in Poland. The project, under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, aims to enhance energy efficiency and security in Europe, with completion expected by Q2 2027. This endeavor highlights the increasing significance of CCGT projects in the region's energy landscape.

The consortium, comprising MYTILINEOS and Siemens Energy, has inked an EPC contract with ZE PAK's subsidiary for the development of the efficient power plant utilizing combined cycle technology. This venture marks MYTILINEOS's second energy project in Poland, reinforcing its position as a key player in addressing Europe's evolving energy needs. With a focus on sustainability, MYTILINEOS aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by at least 30% by 2030, aligning with global environmental goals.

The Adamów Power Plant project underscores the pivotal role of CCGT projects in Europe's energy transition, complementing renewables as a transitional fuel. Expected to engage Polish and international contracting companies, the project anticipates peak involvement of 700 workers and supervisors during construction. With a contract price of 250 million EUR and a total investment exceeding 2.3 billion PLN (EUR 500 million), this initiative not only emphasizes energy efficiency but also contributes to economic development in the region.

As MYTILINEOS expands its footprint in Europe, Asia, and Africa, the company remains committed to sustainable development and reducing its environmental impact. With a strong track record in thermal project construction, MYTILINEOS continues to play a vital role in advancing energy solutions to meet the challenges of tomorrow's world.
