ABB is addressing the automation skills gap by collaborating closely with educators to introduce a comprehensive robotics education package. With the future of work being transformed by automation, it is crucial to equip the next generation of workers with the necessary skills to navigate this evolving landscape. Leveraging its expertise and portfolio of robotic solutions, ABB is assisting educational institutions worldwide in providing training on robotic and automation skills to prepare students for the workforce of tomorrow.
The recently launched ABB Robotics education package, part of the company's global campaign to support workers in the era of automation, offers schools, colleges, and universities a ready-to-use solution. It includes a GoFa collaborative robot (cobot), teaching materials, and a globally recognized technical qualification. By enabling educational institutions to create and deliver industry-recognized robotics training courses, ABB aims to bridge the technology skills gap and ensure students are well-prepared for the automated workplace.
The package features an Education Cell with a fully functional ABB GoFa cobot, allowing students as young as 15 to learn real-life industrial applications like pick-and-place and 3D printing. The educational materials, developed by industry experts and adapted to a student-friendly format, cover robotics fundamentals, advanced applications, and programming. Through videos, interactive exercises, and lab exercises with ABB's RobotStudio® offline programming tool, students gain hands-on experience in planning and developing robotic solutions. Additionally, teachers and students can obtain a globally recognized STEM certification, providing industry-acknowledged credentials to showcase their robotic automation proficiency.
With this collaborative effort, ABB is actively closing the automation skills gap and empowering students to thrive in the automated workplace. By equipping them with valuable robotics and automation skills, ABB and educators are shaping a workforce that is ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the future.
