SEYMOUR, TEXAS, NOVEMBER 5, 2024 — Acciona Energía has expanded its renewable energy footprint in the United States with the acquisition of two operational wind farms, Green Pastures I and Green Pastures II, in Baylor County, Texas. With a combined capacity of 300 MW, these sites will generate approximately 1.1 TWh of clean energy annually.
The projects, purchased for USD $202.5 million from private asset management entities, bolster Acciona Energía's presence in Texas. Both farms are integrated into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid, which is widely recognized for its advanced renewable energy integration capabilities. ERCOT oversees 90% of Texas’s electricity distribution and commercialization, providing an ideal platform for renewable growth.
With this acquisition, Acciona Energía strengthens its U.S. portfolio, increasing its installed capacity in North America to nearly 3.1 GW. The acquisition aligns with Acciona Energía’s strategic goal to support the energy transition through reliable, renewable energy sources. The addition also reinforces the company’s focus on optimal geographic diversification, further positioning it as a significant player in the renewable energy sector across the U.S.
Acciona Energía is recognized as the largest 100% renewable energy company globally, with 13.9 GW of renewable capacity across 25 countries. As part of its parent company, Acciona S.A., it adheres to high ESG standards, helping clients meet decarbonization targets with tailored energy solutions.
