Canadian Solar Inc. has announced that e-STORAGE, part of its majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar Co., Ltd., has secured agreements for two large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the United States. The projects, developed by Aypa Power, will be located in California and Texas.
Under the Battery Supply Agreements and Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA), e-STORAGE will supply and commission a 160 MW AC/806 MWh DC BESS in California and a 200 MW AC/998 MWh DC BESS in Texas. The systems will incorporate approximately 370 SolBank 3.0 units, with construction set to begin in Q3 2025.
Following commissioning, e-STORAGE will manage operations and maintenance under a 20-year LTSA, ensuring long-term system performance and reliability.
"We are proud to support Aypa Power in delivering utility-scale energy storage projects that enhance grid flexibility and reliability," said Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE. "Our SolBank technology is designed for safety and high performance, helping stabilize renewable energy supply and drive a cleaner, more sustainable future."
These projects will strengthen grid resilience and support renewable energy integration in key U.S. markets. e-STORAGE, a Tier 1 global energy storage provider, will deploy its proprietary SolBank 3.0 system, featuring lithium-iron-phosphate battery technology, an active balancing battery management system, and advanced liquid cooling for safety and efficiency.
