Edged, a subsidiary of Endeavour, has broken ground on a new data center in Ankeny, Iowa, designed to support next-generation AI training and inference. The facility will deliver 13.2 MW of critical IT capacity and will feature advanced waterless cooling technology to meet high-density compute demands with minimal environmental impact.
The project is being developed in partnership with Burns & McDonnell, a global design-build firm, and is expected to be completed within 24 months. Once operational, Edged Des Moines will join a growing network of sustainable data centers across North America, including cities like Chicago, Dallas, and Phoenix.
According to Bryant Farland, CEO of Edged, the facility will save over 52 million gallons of water annually, using a closed-loop, air-based cooling system that can support rack densities up to 200 kW. The company claims an average design PUE of 1.15 across its portfolio.
The Ankeny facility is part of Edged’s broader mission to deliver eco-friendly, AI-ready infrastructure tailored to hyperscalers and large enterprises. With demand for AI compute growing rapidly, the site aims to provide sustainable capacity closer to Midwest businesses and tech hubs.
