As of February 1, 2025, Rasmus Errboe has officially assumed the role of Group President and CEO of Ørsted, succeeding Mads Nipper, who stepped down after four years at the helm.
Errboe, formerly Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), has been with Ørsted since 2012. His extensive experience includes roles such as Regional Head of Europe, CFO for the Offshore Business, and Interim Group CFO. Notably, he played pivotal roles in Ørsted’s IPO in 2016 and the divestment of its Oil & Gas business in 2017.
The leadership change comes amid shifting dynamics in the renewable energy market, including offshore wind industry challenges, supply chain issues, and regulatory changes. Lene Skole, Chair of Ørsted’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Errboe's leadership, stating that his deep industry knowledge and strategic vision make him the right person to navigate Ørsted through this transitional period.
In his new role, Errboe emphasized his commitment to driving Ørsted's green energy vision forward. “Offshore wind remains critical for the global green transition, and we’re dedicated to creating value for our stakeholders while advancing sustainable energy,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure, Mads Nipper highlighted the growth of Ørsted’s installed renewable capacity from 11.3 GW in 2021 to 18.2 GW in 2025, crediting the team’s resilience in navigating both opportunities and challenges.
