NorthStar Clean Energy has successfully secured $334 million in financing for two new solar projects in Michigan. The Branch Solar project in Branch County, with a capacity of 200 MW, and the Genesee Solar project in Genesee County, at 50 MW, will collectively power around 36,000 homes annually.
These projects, representing a significant step in NorthStar Clean Energy’s expansion in renewable energy, are expected to contribute to both local economic development and Michigan's clean energy goals. The Genesee Solar project will also bring job opportunities to a historically disadvantaged community in the region.
The financing for the projects was arranged by BNP Paribas, MUFG, and SMBC, with legal support from Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, Bodman Plc, and Warner Norcross + Judd LLP.
As a subsidiary of CMS Energy, NorthStar Clean Energy owns and operates more than 2,000 MW of generation capacity nationwide, with significant solar, wind, and biomass assets. The completion of these projects further strengthens the company’s commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions.
