Octopus Energy Generation, the renewables investment arm of Octopus Energy Group, has announced a major expansion in Germany through the acquisition of MN projects GmbH, a Hamburg-based developer with over 2 GW of solar and battery storage projects in the pipeline.
This marks Octopus Energy’s ninth investment in Germany in under three years and supports the country's push to reach 80% renewable electricity by 2030. The projects—spread across more than 70 sites—are expected to power up to 500,000 homes and provide battery storage for an additional 150,000 households.
The investment was made through the Octopus Energy Development Partnership (OEDP), which focuses on scaling clean energy across Europe. The acquired pipeline includes solar farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with several projects already ready for construction.
MN projects is particularly active in regions such as Saxony and Lower Saxony, areas still heavily reliant on coal, helping accelerate Germany’s Energiewende transition. The deal builds on Octopus’ existing 300 MW portfolio in Germany and follows last year’s investment in Lintas Green Energy.
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation, stated: “Investments like this are essential for Germany to meet its renewable energy targets and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.”
Joachim Müller and Bernd Neitzel, co-founders of MN projects GmbH, welcomed the partnership as a major step forward for scaling clean energy infrastructure in Germany.
