Q ENERGY officially inaugurated the Les Broules 2 solar farm in Montfort, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The 5 MW facility, located on a former motorway brownfield site, will supply green electricity to approximately 2,800 residents, avoiding 200 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The plant, an extension of the Les Broules 1 solar farm (launched in 2019), features 8,700 photovoltaic panels and contributes to the region's energy transition goals.
The project was made possible through seven years of collaboration between Q ENERGY and local representatives, including the Direction Départementale des Territoires (DDT). By using previously degraded land, the project minimizes environmental impact and supports local biodiversity initiatives, such as wildlife passageways and habitat creation for bird species.
Construction of Les Broules 2 began in 2023 and took eight months to complete, with commissioning in April 2024. Local businesses were heavily involved in the project, contributing to civil engineering, landscaping, and other key works.
Vincent Gambrelle, Regional Team Lead Solar at Q ENERGY, highlighted the project’s importance, stating that its success reflects "the unfailing involvement of local elected representatives and continuous dialogue between all stakeholders."
