RWE has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 10 GW of owned and operational generation capacity in the US, marking significant growth in onshore wind, solar, and energy storage. With over 170 facilities across 24 states, the portfolio includes: 4.3 GW of solar energy, 5.2 GW of onshore wind energy and 0.5 GW of battery storage
In 2024 alone, RWE commissioned 953 MW of new capacity across six projects in five states, addressing the rising demand for energy fueled by advancements in AI, data centers, and manufacturing.
Noteworthy projects contributing to this milestone include:
- Northern Orchard Solar in Kern County, California, with 150 MW of solar capacity and an upcoming 92 MW battery energy storage system.
- Timberland Solar in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, a 140 MW solar farm. Combined, these projects provide enough power for 51,000 homes annually.
RWE actively collaborates with local communities, offering financial benefits such as funding for non-profits, school support, property tax contributions, and landowner incentives. CEO Andrew Flanagan highlighted the company’s role in creating jobs, driving economic growth, and strengthening national energy security.
With over 4 GW of clean energy projects under construction, RWE continues to expand its commitment to providing reliable and cost-effective clean energy while supporting sustainable development in the US.
