Salzburg AG, an Austrian green technology company, has announced plans to invest €1.7 billion in sustainable projects over the coming years, with €342 million allocated for 2025. These investments aim to advance renewable energy initiatives, expand grid infrastructure, and support sustainable transportation.
In 2025, Salzburg AG will direct €84 million towards renewable energy projects, including commissioning the Sulzau and Stegenwald hydropower plants. The company will also complete three agri-PV installations near Salzburgring, Goeming, and Lamprechtshausen, while commencing construction on a €5-million solar facility in Siezenheim. These four solar projects, with a combined capacity of 10.7 MWp, are expected to produce 13 GWh annually—enough to power approximately 3,700 households.
Wind energy initiatives include progressing work at Windsfeld and Lehmberg, alongside feasibility studies for additional sites across Austria.
In network infrastructure, €122 million will fund projects such as the completion of the Dienten substation, the start of construction on the Anthering substation, and ongoing upgrades to Salzburg's high-voltage network.
The company has also allocated €61 million for transportation projects, including funding for e-charging infrastructure, with €7.4 million earmarked specifically for public charging stations.
"Our clear goal is to enhance energy independence and further improve supply security. Salzburg AG is the engine driving this effort," said supervisory board chairman Wilfried Haslauer.
