
Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital energy management and automation, has partnered with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL) to upgrade the state’s power distribution network. This initiative aims to enhance energy reliability, efficiency, and sustainability for the region.
Faced with increasing energy demands, SBPDCL sought modernization solutions to ensure seamless power distribution. Schneider Electric’s advanced EcoStruxure Grid solutions played a key role in transforming the network, enabling real-time monitoring and improving operational uptime. The partnership has significantly improved power reliability by 90%, reduced energy consumption by 80%, and optimized engineering costs and time by 70%.

Udai Singh, MD & CEO, Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd., highlighted the implementation of technologies like GIS-based network mapping and automated fault detection, ensuring a resilient and future-ready energy ecosystem.
As part of the project, Schneider Electric established a Command-and-Control Center and a Disaster Recovery Center, deployed 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) for distribution reliability, and installed 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) to enhance fault detection and response times.
This initiative marks a crucial step in South Bihar’s energy transformation, reinforcing Schneider Electric’s role in advancing India’s power infrastructure.
