Paris, Geneva – TotalEnergies and STMicroelectronics have signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply 1.5 TWh of renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics’ sites in France. The agreement, which began in January 2025, marks the first such PPA for STMicroelectronics in the country. The renewable power will be sourced from two recent wind and solar farms with a total capacity of 75 MW, operated by TotalEnergies.
Under this agreement, TotalEnergies will provide STMicroelectronics with clean, firm power, ensuring a consistent volume of green electricity, even from intermittent sources like wind and solar. This PPA plays a crucial role in STMicroelectronics' goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2027, including sourcing 100% renewable energy by that time.
"This agreement underscores our ability to provide long-term, innovative clean energy solutions," said Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President of Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies. "We are committed to supporting the tech industry in their decarbonization efforts."
For STMicroelectronics, this marks an important step in its transition to carbon neutrality. "PPAs like this one will be key to meeting our renewable energy goals," said Geoff West, EVP and Chief Procurement Officer at STMicroelectronics.
This deal also highlights the growing role of Power Purchase Agreements in enabling businesses to achieve sustainability targets, while also supporting the development of clean energy infrastructure across France.
