Vestas, the Danish wind turbine manufacturer, has received a 134MW wind turbine order from Invenergy for the Inaniwa Wind Energy Center in Japan's Iwate prefecture. This marks the largest order Vestas has secured in Japan to date, further bolstering its presence in the country, where it has already installed over 1.18GW of wind turbines.
The order includes the supply and installation of 32 V117-4.2MW turbines. Vestas has also signed a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement to maintain the turbines.
Purvin Patel, President of Vestas Asia Pacific, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating: “We are pleased to partner again with Invenergy in Japan for this milestone project. By leveraging our expertise, we look forward to further contributing to Japan’s carbon neutrality goals."
The project is expected to begin deliveries in the first half of 2027, with commissioning planned for the first quarter of 2028.
Masa Oya, Senior Vice-President and Japan Head at Invenergy, added, “We are proud to work with Vestas on this sizeable order and look forward to delivering another clean energy project that contributes to Japan’s clean energy goals.”
This collaboration underscores both companies' commitment to expanding Japan's renewable energy capacity and advancing the country’s goal of carbon neutrality.
