Vestas-American Wind Technology, the U.S. arm of Danish-based Vestas, has signed a major contract to supply wind turbines for a 342-megawatt wind farm in New York. The Alle-Catt Wind Energy Project, developed by Invenergy Wind LLC, spans 30,000 acres across Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming counties and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 134,000 homes annually.
The agreement includes up to 83 V150-4.5 MW turbines, along with a ten-year maintenance contract. The turbines are slated for delivery in late 2025, with the wind farm expected to be commissioned by the end of 2026.
Manufactured at Vestas facilities in Brighton and Windsor, Colorado, the turbines represent the company's continued efforts to meet growing demand for wind energy. The V150-4.5 MW turbines are among the newest models produced by Vestas.
Wind projects built by Vestas are estimated to cost around $1 million per megawatt, valuing the order at approximately $342 million, based on data from the U.S. Department of Energy.
This deal is part of a series of high-profile contracts secured by Vestas, including a 554-megawatt wind farm in April and an order for 242 turbines with a total 1.1-gigawatt capacity last year. Vestas remains a top wind turbine manufacturer in the U.S., competing closely with General Electric.
