Paisley, UK - An electricity transformer weighing 197 tonnes is set to be transported from Glasgow to Renfrewshire with a police escort in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The slow-moving journey will take five-and-a-half hours to reach its destination at Neilston sub-station in Gleniffer Road, following a carefully planned route via Grahamston Road, Caplethill Road, Glenburn Road and the B775.
SP Energy Networks are replacing a transformer at Neilston Grid sub-station in Renfrewshire as part of the ongoing modernization of the electricity network. The vehicle will be travelling overnight to minimise disruption on the roads, and the company apologises for any inconvenience resulting from this activity, thanking the public for their ongoing support as they ensure the national infrastructure plays its part in delivering a more sustainable environment for everyone.
