In a bid to guarantee uninterrupted power supply to Prayagraj (India), officials from Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited have announced significant measures. As the city battles scorching temperatures, the implementation of 24x7 power supply comes as a relief. To combat potential power failures stemming from damaged transformers, a staggering 294 new transformers have been strategically installed across urban areas of Prayagraj, ensuring a more resilient power grid.
Chief Engineer Pramod Kumar Singh highlighted the progress, noting that the supply of electricity to both rural and urban areas has now transitioned to round-the-clock provision. A total of 290 small transformers and four large ones have been integrated into the city's power stations, bolstering its capacity to meet increasing demand. Additionally, efforts to address transformer failures saw 17,802 complaints resolved in March alone, signaling an earnest commitment to service reliability.
Furthermore, proactive steps have been taken to mitigate electrical faults caused by aging infrastructure. Chief Engineer Singh emphasized the deployment of 70 kilometers of 4 AV cables exclusively in urban areas, a move that significantly reduces the likelihood of wire-related incidents. Notably, plans for constructing two new substations are underway, with one station in Malawa slated to commence operations this month, underscoring ongoing efforts to fortify Prayagraj's power infrastructure.
