Holidays to Remember
As our feature article this week, given it is Christmas Eve, I’ll make this much shorter and to the point from my usual articles. Hopefully, most of us are preparing to shut down for the rest of the week, if not the rest of the year, so you might not even see this until January. The vaccines have begun to roll out, and it is just a matter of time before we will come out from our Covid-19 hibernation. It is the beginning of the end to a tremendously stressful and difficult year.
But hope is what Christmas is all about: hope for a better life and a better future. Christmas represents the sacrifice of One for the benefit of All, and with that in mind, all of us at APC Media and Transformer Technology, along with my EPRA family, wish you a very Merry Christmas.
As for 2021, each of us has the opportunity to make it an outstanding year, applying what we learned in 2020 about better ways to communicate, collaborate and make things better than we find them. The Seven Foundational principles of Transformer Technology are more important now than ever because they focus us on our Vision, the why of what we do. Vision has two components, direction and destination. Our Direction never changed in 2020, as we focused on equipping, encouraging and inspiring our readers and community members on all things practical about Transformer Technology, with a North American focus.
What did change was our Destination along the way – the pivot from a print publication to a digital community being the most important and one we are still working on. The hardest part about trying to create the community is just how much email, information and digital communications we all received this year. If your email inbox is anything like mine, then “swamped” might be the best way to describe it.
Our main pivot (new destination) was to take the magazine to a weekly Featured Article or Interview and a monthly digital issue, based on a broad theme. And, more importantly, it was to create video content through Profiles and Tech Talks where practical, focused information could be provided and archived for future viewing. We also created the Consultants Corner where some of the professions best consulting professionals could provide a profile of the areas of expertise that they offer for those community members who need it.
In the process of all of this change and adjusting to Covid 19, a team was born – a team whose like-minded focus is on achieving the vision we all share. I wish to thank this great team we have assembled in support of the magazine and the community. My EPRA team members Rachel Linke, Debbie Cardy, Lee Murray and Jamie Chovan supported the APC Media team where needed. Petra Curlin was added to the Transformer Technology team working on the video side; Marina Cizmesija continues to provide the best editing and production support for the written word; Kevan Sears and Marin Dugandzic provide Media Relations support and our amazing Editorial and Technical Advisory Boards supported by Corné Dames keep us focused on technical accuracy, practicality and overall editorial direction.
Most importantly, you, the Transformer Technology Community is what we all are most thankful for so with that, we wish each of you
a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and a prosperous and Happy New Year!
