CHILE – ABB Power Grids supplied digital transformers for major renewable energy projects in Chile that will help integrate sustainable electricity into Chile’s national grid.
The digitally enabled transformers will be used across nine wind and solar projects built by Mainstream Renewable Power that make part the 1.3 GW Andes Renovables platform, to enhance their operation in this critical application.
ABB also provided power transformers for three additional wind energy projects in Chile (Cuel, Sarco and Aurora), with the total capacity of 332 MW, which are owned by Aela Energía and its subsidiary Aela Generación.
These twelve projects total over 1.5 GW of renewable power capacity, which is enough electricity to provide power for over 1.3 million people in Chile.
