Ameren Services, one of Illinois' largest utility providers, has successfully received and installed a new power distribution unit at its substation in Mt. Sterling, Illinois. The unit, rated at 11.2/14 MVA and 68.8/13.2 kV, will provide essential, uninterrupted power to the local community.
The installation was overseen by Jeff Moriarty, a representative from Power Equipment Sales Company (PESCO), ensuring the process ran smoothly and efficiently. This project is part of Ameren's ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade its infrastructure, which serves over 1.2 million electric customers and 816,000 natural gas customers across more than 1,200 communities in the state.
The new power distribution unit strengthens the region’s energy supply, reinforcing Ameren’s extensive delivery system, which includes over 4,500 miles of electric transmission lines, 46,000 miles of distribution lines, and more than 18,000 miles of natural gas transmission and distribution mains. Ameren continues to focus on delivering reliable energy to Illinois residents while enhancing the resilience of its grid.
The installation marks another step forward in improving the local energy infrastructure and ensuring a reliable, sustainable power supply for future generations in the Mt. Sterling area.
