Poland’s Industrial Development Agency (ARP) announced that its Gdansk shipyard facility is set to begin producing fully Polish-made transformers dedicated to offshore wind energy projects. The development was disclosed by Michał Dąbrowski, ARP’s President, during the 2nd Distributed Energy Congress in Krakow. Dąbrowski highlighted the agency's commitment to advancing Poland’s renewable energy infrastructure and underscored the need to accelerate developments to introduce a 100% Polish-built transformer model.
The transformers will be designed, produced, and assembled entirely with ARP’s own resources, marking a significant step toward energy independence in Poland’s renewable sector. The factory is expected to support the national offshore wind energy sector, with production focused on energy transformation components crucial for Poland’s energy goals.
Dąbrowski also highlighted the strategic role of the wind tower factory under construction in Gdansk by Baltic Towers, a joint venture between ARP and Spain’s GRI Renewable Industries. Once operational, this facility will contribute directly to Poland's wind energy capabilities by producing essential components for offshore wind projects.
As a part of the Polish Development Fund Group, ARP’s investments extend across 76 companies, with a controlling interest in 51. This new development is aligned with ARP’s objective to strengthen Poland's industrial base and drive energy transformation through self-reliant, national resources.
