According to the company, this innovative solution aims to revolutionize the way auxiliary services are powered within substations while prioritizing efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Arteche recently announced that it has teamed up with Red Eléctrica, the Spanish electricity system's Transmission System Operator (TSO), and Elewit, a technology platform under the Redeia group, to unveil the Zero Emission Portable Auxiliary Source (ZEPAS).
According to the company, this innovative solution aims to revolutionize the way auxiliary services are powered within substations while prioritizing efficiency and environmental sustainability. The solution represents a compact and environmentally friendly portable system designed to supply electricity for auxiliary services within substations directly from high-voltage lines and should eliminate the need for traditional generator sets, thereby reducing emissions and fostering sustainability.
The technology functions as a transportable, self-unloading mobile platform for power voltage transformers, which combine the capabilities of a potential transformer with the versatility of a distribution transformer, Arteche elaborated in a recent press release. These transformers supply low-voltage power directly from high-voltage lines, offering a reliable power source thanks to their direct connection.
Furthermore, the new technology has already been successfully installed at Red Eléctrica substations in Aguayo and Chucena. Arteche and Elewit's partnership highlights their commitment to sustainability and innovation. By working closely with Red Eléctrica and other members of the Redeia group, they aim to accelerate the energy transition while ensuring agility and sustainability.
