Energy engineering giant BRUSH Group has successfully acquired Co.Bo.T srl, an Italian transformer windings specialist, in a strategic move aimed at fortifying its supply chain.
The undisclosed deal not only provides BRUSH, based in Loughborough, with a new link in its supply chain but also augments production capacity, supporting the expansion of the UK electricity grid in response to increased demand driven by the transition to net zero.
Co.Bo.T, located near Vicenza in Northern Italy, is a reputable winding specialist in the 33kV-132kV bracket, supplying transformer manufacturers across Western Europe, including BRUSH. The acquisition positions BRUSH to expedite lead times for customers looking to connect to the grid. With a recent major upgrade to its production line, Co.Bo.T has the capacity to handle the entire sub-assembly manufacturing process.
BRUSH Group's commitment to a multi-million-pound investment in testing facilities in Loughborough aligns with its goal of enhancing in-house capabilities for assembly and testing. This ensures that BRUSH's transformers continue to meet the highest standards and specifications, emphasizing the company's dedication to quality.
Nicolas Pitrat, CEO of BRUSH Group, expressed excitement about welcoming Co.Bo.T to the BRUSH family, noting that the strategic partnership and investment in the Loughborough facility significantly increase production capability while maintaining renowned transformer quality.
Davide Cornale, Managing Director of Co.Bo.T, highlighted the pride in the team's expertise and the quality of work over the past 30 years. The acquisition provides the financial backing needed for future growth, allowing Co.Bo.T to better support customers across Europe. Co.Bo.T will remain a standalone business, retaining all 40 staff members, and all contracts will be honored under the new ownership.
