This year’s CIGRE A2 Working Group preferential subjects have highlighted groundbreaking advancements in transformer technology. The Best Papers of each subject were announced, showcasing the industry’s dedication to improving transformer resilience, analytics, and reliability.
In PS1, the focus on "Design of Resilient Transformers" led to recognition for Roald Kleivi, Dietrich Bonmann, and Claes Carrander. Their work emphasizes the importance of designing transformers that can withstand harsh conditions, enhancing system reliability.
PS2 celebrated advancements in "Transformer Analytics" with Diego Robalino, Matias Meira, Raul Alvarez, and Fabio Scatiggio taking the lead. Their paper highlighted the use of advanced analytics to optimize transformer performance and extend operational life.
PS3 honed in on the "Reliability of Transformers for Renewable Energy," a critical aspect of the growing renewable energy sector. Xin Zhong, Chandima Ekanayake, Hui Ma, Tapan Saha, David Fink, and Greg Caldwell were recognized for their contribution, which aims to ensure that transformers remain dependable in renewable energy applications.
