After over five months of preparation, COLI Schiffahrt & Transport GmbH & Co. KG successfully completed the delivery of eight power transformers and related equipment to Gdynia, Poland. The cargo, weighing more than 3,250 freight tons, was transported in a single shipment.
The shipment included four 354-metric-ton power transformers and four 135-metric-ton shunt reactors. Key challenges included limited storage capacity at the manufacturer’s facility and the complex logistics of moving the equipment to the port of loading. COLI's Istanbul team resolved the storage issue by securing a suitable warehouse with the necessary ground-bearing capacity and access routes.
Transportation to the port required extensive collaboration with road authorities and port management. The project involved 140 hydraulic axle lines, a girder bridge configuration, 20 SPMT axle lines, and a 1,000-ton gantry crane. Despite the intricate planning and technical challenges, the cargo was safely delivered to the port after four days of loading operations and subsequently shipped to Poland.
The operation exemplifies meticulous engineering and logistics coordination, reinforcing COLI’s expertise in handling large-scale transport projects.
