Delgaz Grid, a subsidiary of E.ON, has completed the construction of a new transformer station in the eastern Romanian city of Onesti, Bacau county, following an investment of 22.7 million lei (approximately 4.6 million euros). The new facility, which became operational at the end of December 2024, will improve electricity supply continuity and service quality for over 31,000 customers in Onesti and surrounding areas.
The transformer station, which is integrated with SCADA (System Control and Data Acquisition), features two power transformers and a 1.3 km 110 kV network with dual circuits, enhancing capacity for new consumers, prosumers, and green energy producers. The station will also increase the network’s reliability and allow for remote monitoring and control.
This project is part of a larger initiative, which also includes the modernization of the Letea transformer station near Bacau. The entire investment, valued at over 100 million lei, has received significant support from the EU’s Modernisation Fund, aimed at helping EU member states transition to climate neutrality.
With the new transformer station now in operation, Delgaz Grid continues to expand its infrastructure, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy grid in Romania.
