Boston, US - Transformer Technology’s Dorotea Filipan had the opportunity to attend the 2023 International Conference of Doble Clients and interview Matt Carrara, the new President of Doble.
DF: Matt, could you tell us what Doble was hoping to achieve at this year's conference, and do you think you've achieved those goals? Also, what was the overall theme of the conference?
MC: For Doble, there were two facets to this conference. Firstly, being in my role for just four months, it was about meeting more clients, customers, and channel partners. Over the weekend, we had a channel partner meeting where I met as many of them as possible. This conference gave me the opportunity to have more face-to-face meetings than I have had in the last two years. I also got to see equipment at the industry expo and attend presentations to learn more about the industry, which was great for me personally as someone new to the industry. I think I achieved these goals over the first few days.
Secondly, it was about getting back to normal after the pandemic and hosting an event that had close to 1400 attendees, making it the most attended event in all the conferences ever. The pent-up demand was evident, and people wanted to learn and connect with others in the industry. I think we achieved this goal as well.
Beyond these goals, the grand opening keynote about the situation in Ukraine was something I wanted to do to promote the idea that it's more than just about transformers. It's about people and signing up for a cause, which we at Doble are going to support. I mentioned this during the keynote, and I felt we definitely hit that one out of the park as well. More people came up to me during the week and said that it was the best keynote they have ever seen at any event. For us, it was about fresh faces and energy as the new President, outgoing President, and new CEO.
