Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies List 2022 features Duke Energy, Eaton, Schneider Electric, Siemens and Southern Company in the electric and gas utilities category.
Fortune collaborated with the global management consulting firm Korn Ferry on the survey of corporate reputations that included 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue along with non-U.S. companies from Fortune’s Global 500 database, with revenues of $10 billion or more. The top-rated companies were picked from the pool of 640 based on votes by executives who work at the companies in that group.
To determine the best-regarded companies in 52 industries, Korn Ferry asked executives, directors and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent.
Duke Energy
Duke Energy made the World's Most Admired Companies list for the fifth year in a row, ranked 8th among gas and electric utilities.
"We appreciate this recognition after a year in which we delivered exceptional value to customers and communities while providing attractive returns to investors," said Lynn Good, Duke Energy chair, president and CEO.
Eaton
The power management company Eaton also made the list for the fifth straight year. The company’s 2020 revenues were $17.9 billion, with approximately 87,000 employees and products sold to customers in more than 175 countries.
“We’re honored to once again be named among this year’s World’s Most Admired Companies,” said Craig Arnold, Eaton chairman and CEO. “This recognition is a testament to the people of Eaton and their tremendous dedication to our mission, our values and the work we do every day to serve our stakeholders around the world.”
Schneider Electric
Ranked third in the electronics industry and featured on Fortune’s list for the fifth consecutive year is Schneider Electric.
Schneider delivers on its commitments to innovation, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion through initiatives such as the Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) barometer that expanded the company’s climate change consulting services business.
“We are honored by this recognition and, as #SEGreatPeople, we will continue our journey to bridge progress and sustainability for all,” says Charise Le, Chief Human Resources Officer at Schneider Electric.
Siemens
Siemens ranked No. 1 in the electronics industry category for the fifth consecutive year.
“For us at Siemens, with 385,000 employees and a global footprint that includes 190 countries, that regard is especially meaningful,” said Barbara Humpton, CEO of Siemens USA. “The criteria used by Fortune are reflective of our values and goals as a “Business to Society” company. We’re motivated by how we can make an impact, empower people and harness today’s digital transformation for social good.”
Southern Company
Southern Company has been developing energy solutions for over a century, serving 9 million customers through its subsidiaries. In addition to being included on Fortune’s Most Admired Companies List, their corporate culture and hiring practices have been recognized nationally by the U.S. Department of Defense, G.I.
