Efacec, a key player in the Power Transformer sector, has taken a significant step in reinforcing its presence in France by securing a transformative contract with RTE, France's Transmission System Operator. This pivotal agreement focuses on the modernization and expansion of the country's electricity grid, signifying a continued partnership between Efacec and RTE, which spans over a decade. This endeavor is set to span until 2028 and involves an investment surpassing dozens of millions of euros.
The core of this contract revolves around the manufacturing, supply, and installation of several dozen power transformers, specifically EcoDesign Tier 2 models. These transformers, with power capacities ranging from 100MVA at 155kV to 170MVA at 235kV, incorporate intricate technical solutions. What sets them apart is their steadfast commitment to sustainability, meeting the industry's most rigorous standards. These transformers feature bio-degradable oils in more than 40 percent of each piece of equipment, exemplifying the remarkable strides made in environmental responsibility.
These advanced transformers will be an integral part of the French electricity grid's transmission network. With more than 8,000MVA of transformers already in operation in French utilities (DSO & TSO) and a track record of nearly 100 power transformers supplied, Efacec is steadfastly consolidating its foothold in this strategic European market.
Michael Silva, Efacec's Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his optimism about the project, stating, "RTE has once again placed its trust in Efacec for the modernization of the French electricity grid, which we see as a positive reinforcement of our position as RTE's technological partner of reference, strengthening a long-standing partnership based on Efacec's continuous investment in innovation, technology, and client satisfaction. At the same time, we have strengthened our position in France, where Efacec has more than 100 million euros in contracts celebrated in the last two years with the various utilities operating in the French market."
RTE, France's Transmission System Operator, plays a pivotal role in managing electricity flows and maintaining the balance between production and consumption in real-time. With around 100,000 kilometers of overhead lines, 7,000 kilometers of underground lines, 2,900 electrical substations, and 51 cross-border lines, the French network is one of the most extensive in Europe, interconnected with 33 countries.
Efacec, with its extensive presence in the Energy, Mobility, and Environment value chain, is well-poised to lead this transformative project, aligning with its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. This partnership between Efacec and RTE is a notable chapter in the journey towards modernizing and greening France's electricity grid.
As the project unfolds, it promises to bring about profound improvements in the nation's power infrastructure, aligning with sustainability goals and securing a robust energy future for France.
