RWANDA – Efacec has installed three high voltage substations in Rwanda, elevating the country’s voltage level to 220 kV and advancing the goal of countrywide electrification.
Efacec has completed the project of constructing three new substations – the 220 kV Mamba, the 220/110/11 kV Rwabusoro and the 220/110/11 kV Bugesera substation.
The majority of equipment used in the command, control and protection system and in the central system was manufactured by Efacec, the company said in the press release.
The work on the three substations will be fundamental to transport the 80 MW of electricity produced at Hakan Mamba’s Power Station to the national electricity grid, to supply the new International Airport and the Bugesera Industrial Park.
The Republic of Rwanda plans to achieve full electrification by 2023.
