In a commendable showcase of efficiency, the Central Workshop Division Pampore, a division of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), has achieved a significant milestone by successfully refurbishing thousands of damaged transformers. This year alone, the workshop has repaired 2500 transformers, contributing to its remarkable track record of 4300 transformer repairs in the previous fiscal year.
Situated in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the Electric Central Workshop Division Pampore stands out as the largest workshop in the Kashmir division. Executive Engineer Azhar Hamid Mattu, in an interview with Kashmir Reader, emphasized the workshop's commitment to maintaining and enhancing the electrical infrastructure in the region.
Mattu explained that when transformers in the valley are damaged beyond the local workshops' capacity, they are sent to the Central Workshop Division Pampore. Here, a dedicated infrastructure ensures a thorough inspection, dismantling, assessment, and repair process, including testing and necessary procedures before returning the transformers to their respective divisions.
The workshop, catering to 19 maintenance divisions, aims to minimize delays and inconvenience to consumers. Mattu highlighted the workshop's annual contract with 23 Small Scale Industry (SSI) units, assisting in the repair process and managing the workload. Additionally, a proactive approach is taken to address emergencies, with a stock of new buffer transformers ready for immediate deployment.
This impressive feat aligns with directives from higher authorities, including Lieutenant Governor Sahab, emphasizing the need for timely repairs. The Central Workshop Division Pampore's dedication to transformer rehabilitation ensures a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for the residents of the Kashmir Division.
